Jess Shell is a somatic based choreographer, dancer, and teacher. She holds a BA in Dance from Sarah Lawrence College, and an MFA in Choreography from UNCG. Her research includes somatic based choreography, and more recently outer space and astrophysical theories. She is also interested in the intersection of somatics, ritual, and site specific dance.Her work has been performed in North Carolina, New York, and Italy. She is the co-director of Tobacco Road Dance Productions. Jess teaches dance in the Upper School at Carolina Friends School. She is also a licensed Massage and Bodywork Therapist and brings her extensive anatomical knowledge to her process. Jess loves the collaborative process and is proud to be on this journey with Lindsay Winthrop.
